Hi Henry,
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I know about those resources. Worcester seems to have good quality, but is very expensive. Michael Radzicki's course in Macroeconomics is very tempting. Kim Warren at StrategyDynamics has written some interesting books. The newsletter Systems Thinker from Pegasus is worth subscribing to. I am member in Environmental Special Interest Group of the System Dynamics Society and International Society for Ecological Economics at LinkedIn. Being a member of the System Dynamics Society is also great. You get access to System Dynamics review and some other journals.
It looks as if you are about to set up a site about SD?

Hi,

If you haven't already, you might want to check out the distance learning program in SD at Worcester Polytechnic Institute at wpi.edu, StrategyDynamics.com, and Pegasus publishing. The SystemsWiki.org is a pretty good resource

There are a number of discussion group on SD/ST in LinkIn. Quality varies.

Good to see continued interest in SD/ST.

Jo,
Yes, trust of the workforce is important. To view employees as factors of production, as resources, that can be moved around and optimized is limiting. That perception in itself sets a limit for the productivity and creativity of the workforce. We optimize something limited. Better to include them and look at them as co-workers, co-creators of the business idea. True strength and because of this also competitiveness in business lies in working together.

On this topic of lean thinking i'd like to add when it comes to lean manufacturing in a lean environment it is essential to have trust of the workforce so that they understand that productivity improvements would never cost them their jobs”
We know that one using Lean thinking principles will reduce costs but on the other hand when the workforce feel that feel of insecure job stability it will definitely affect their daily performance not helping production improvement.
Cheers,

Hi Micah!
Thanks for your comment! You have an interesting blog about composting. Composting is indeed very interesting. I have a warm compost and have done some experimenting with it. I might write about it soon and we can exchange some ideas.
All the best

Hello Mr Vesterberg,
excuse me if I get in touch with you, I'm following up on a google search about the on-line SD course at the universidad de catalunya which has piqued my interest. My background is science and management and over time I have developed an interest in systems. To this end I recently completed the systems thinking courses offered by the Open University in the UK and ,wanting to expand my experience of the field, I have been looking for other courses. That is how I stumbled across the SD course in Barcelona. I just wanted to know how you found this course in terms of materials, contact with tutor, the amount of time it took you and what you have gotten from it, are you using what you learned and if so, how?
One thing I have picked up about systems thinking is that it can be difficult to find a local community of practice for support and information, hence my contacting you directly. What a wonderful thing the internet is.
Thanks in advance
Gordon K.
