I have a bunch of hard discs from old computers laying around. Are there possibilities of reuse? Yes. Sometimes I need a couple of gigabyte temporary storage. I have found an interesting kit that enables me to reuse the hard disc’s as USB drives. The thing is called UDrive from ACRyan and it is very cheap. It is a USB2 to IDE/SATA external converter that lets you connect your IDE-drive to USB 2.0 on your computer. It also has power supply for the IDE. It does not have cabinet for the IDE, so it is only for temporal solutions. It is quite possible to make my own cabinet if I wanted.

At last my blog is up and running again, this time living in a web hotel. I have always recycled my old computers during the years and reused them as web-server and firewall. Typically an apache-server based on Linux or BSD doesn’t crave that much hardware, but I have had stability problems for a while and now was the time for the hardware to be renamed to junk.

FSData Web Hotel in Sweden became my choice after testing several different hotels for some time. FSData has excellent support and a platform that gives me many options. I can even run Ruby On Rails if I wanted. Their email solution is based on Microsoft Exchange.

I also took the time to search for a better looking theme for my Wordpress blog. I must say that I really appreciate Wordpress as a blogging tool. Since it is used by so many and since its community is so active, it is stable and has a lot of plugins and themes. Testing different themes and changing some of the php-pages was very easy.
